Your Driving Lesson Your Drive Safe UK instructor will pick you up from a location of your choice and provide training matched to your specific needs. We will cover all aspects of the DSA training syllabus, including information about how and when to apply for your driving theory test. We want to ensure you are effectively trained and fully prepared for both theory and practical tests and will advise you on the appropriate study material to use. Learning to Drive You can apply for your UK provisional licence up to 3 months prior to your 17th birthday. You can apply for your driving licence online just click on the link: www.dvla.gov.uk The Theory Test The driving theory test has two parts, part one is a multiple choice test of 50 questions and part two is a hazard perception test of 14 video clips in which you will have to identify 15 developing hazards. To prepare for both parts of the theory test we recommend that all candidates, regardless of driving experience, use the appropriate resource material available. For car drivers you'll be asked 50 questions in 57 minutes and the pass mark is 43 out of 50. Hazard Perception Test The hazard perception part is also delivered on a computer but you respond by clicking a button on the mouse. You'll be presented with a series of 14 video clips which feature every day road scenes. The pass mark for this part of the theory test is 44 out of 75. It is designed to see if you can drive safely and demonstrate a sound knowledge of the Highway Code. Test routes are designed to be as uniform as possible and include a range of typical road and traffic conditions. From October 2010, independent driving will be included in the test. You will be given directions by the Driving Examiner in good time and asked to carry out one of four manoeuvres:
You are allowed to make 15 driver faults during the practical driving test one serious or dangerous fault and you would not be successful. At the end of the driving test the examiner will inform you if you've passed or failed. You can also ask for your instructor to sit in with you on test. |
